Please check the code in your Business object. I think in your business object at the time of instantiate it is checking with database. So as you delete the object in Activity 1, so records got deleted. So in Activity 2 , no records in database, so you cannot read the business object.
The best option for your design is that you create another container element of and assign the emp id before delete step. And use the container element in update step. And also check can you update the record which is already deleted .
